The 10 Best Gregorian Chants To Study To

By Mary Williams

Is this a familiar situation? You go to study for your midterms and it’s just too quiet to concentrate! What do you do next? Music obviously! Try out these 10 sick Gregorian chants:

10.) Deum Verum
This chant’s chill sound is sure to help anyone concentrate by subjecting them to 8 minutes and 39 seconds of the same 3 notes and parallel octaves!

9.) Dies Irae
This absolute jam about Judgement Day is sure to help any student think about their chosen career path and future very seriously!

8.) Salve Regina

This chant will be music to the ears of any Women’s Studies major since it exists only to praise the virgin Mary, a woman!

7.) Adoro Te Devote
A more post-study bop, this one is something you can chill to when you’re revelling in the feeling of being done with your homework at the end of a study sesh.

6.) Ave Maria (Simple Tone Version)
I know you’re thinking, “Finally a familiar tune!”, but the one you know of is probably the Schubert version from 1825, which is too exciting to be a Gregorian Chant.

5.) Miserere mei, Deus
This is a more modern chant circa 1630 that any student can use to ask God to have mercy on their soul as they prepare to fail their exams.

4.) Pange Lingua Gloriosi
This banger is great for when you just need to throw all hope of passing that class to some higher power because you realized as you were doing your homework that you don’t what you’re doing at all.

3.) Ubi Caritas
A 4th century classic which is perfect for a group session! It’ll get all your friends motivated to do some work and get you some help because you made it this far down the list.

2.) Jesu, Dulcis Memoria
This one will remind you of when you actually knew what you were doing and didn’t have to resort to internet lists of chant songs to procrastinate doing your homework.

1.) You know what I”m not gonna even fucking bother. Who in the hell actually wants to study to chants? Nobody is going to make it to the end of this stupid list and if nine goddamn chants isn’t enough I don’t know what to tell you.
